The First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, has urged All Progressives Congress (APC) youth leaders to intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the January 2027 election.
Mrs Tinubu gave the charge on Sunday during a campaign strategy meeting with regional APC youth leaders, led by the party’s National Youth Leader, Dr Dayo Israel, at the State House, Abuja.
She commended the youth leaders for their unity and commitment to strengthening the party’s political activities at the grassroots level.
The first lady urged them to prioritise tangible results over social media presence and noise-making, while encouraging smart political engagement, leadership development and strategic use of resources.
She said her office would provide campaign materials, footwear and other items to support the youths during the campaign.
Mrs Tinubu also donated additional utility vehicles to facilitate the group’s movements and strengthen its outreach activities ahead of the election.
She emphasised the importance of independence, competence and versatility among young leaders, urging them to demonstrate confidence rather than depend on their parents.
The first lady also encouraged the youths to develop original ideas and take initiative instead of relying on maternal guidance.
Speaking with newsmen after the closed-door meeting, Israel said he would embark on a nationwide mobilisation tour to promote the administration’s interventions and garner support for President Bola Tinubu.
He expressed gratitude to the first lady for donating utility vehicles to the APC National Youth Wing, saying they would facilitate access to rural communities.
Israel said the vehicles would help the group navigate difficult terrains, particularly in the Southeast and Southwest, as it intensifies its grassroots engagement.
“The primary objective is to communicate the administration’s achievements in healthcare, education and welfare, particularly interventions such as the student loan programme and the establishment of primary healthcare centres,” he said.
He said the mobilisation tour would remind rural residents of President Tinubu’s commitment to their development and highlight government interventions in their communities.
Israel emphasised the need for party supremacy and organisational cohesion ahead of the election to support the party’s efforts to secure Tinubu’s second term.
“All APC groups must align with the official party structure.
“All support groups, including PBAT, Door to Door, City Boy and Tinubu Again, are expected to work directly with the APC,” he said.
He said the focus was to energise the party’s grassroots base and inspire young people through the APC’s official identity rather than fragmented group identities.
