Nigerian singer Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has reportedly become the first African artiste to surpass 12 billion streams on Spotify across all credited appearances.
The milestone, reported on Monday, October 26, 2026, marks another achievement for the singer, whose music catalogue has attracted listeners across international markets.
According to music statistics account WizStatz, the figure includes streams from songs on which Wizkid is credited as either a lead artiste or a featured performer. These include solo releases, collaborations and guest appearances on tracks by other musicians.
One of the major contributors to Wizkid’s international success is his appearance on One Dance, the 2016 hit by Canadian rapper Drake, which also features British singer Kyla. The song topped charts in several countries and helped expand Wizkid’s audience beyond Africa.
Another notable release is Essence, featuring Nigerian singer Tems. The song, released in 2020 as part of Wizkid’s fourth studio album, Made in Lagos, gained further international attention in 2021 following the release of a remix featuring Canadian singer Justin Bieber.
The song earned international chart recognition and became one of the notable Afrobeats releases of the period, drawing greater attention to Nigerian music in global markets.
Wizkid has continued to expand his catalogue through solo releases and collaborations, including Ojuelegba, Joro and Come Closer, featuring Drake. His earlier releases helped establish his presence in Nigeria before his music gained wider international recognition.
The reported 12 billion-stream milestone follows other streaming achievements in 2026. In January, Wizkid was reported to have become the first African artiste to reach 10 billion Spotify streams across all credited appearances. He reportedly crossed 11 billion streams in May.
The successive milestones reflect the reach of his music
