Sunderland extended their impressive start to the Premier League season with a solid 2-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers, handing the visitors their sixth defeat in eight matches.
Nordi Mukiele opened the scoring in the first half after a clever one-two exchange with Trai Hume, calmly slotting the ball through goalkeeper Sam Johnstone’s legs to give Regis Le Bris’ side a deserved lead.
The Black Cats remained in control throughout the game and sealed all three points late on when Ladislav Krejci turned the ball into his own net under pressure, capping another strong home performance at the Stadium of Light.
The win marks Sunderland’s third home victory of the season and lifts them to seventh place on the table, having collected 10 points from their first four home games — their best top-flight start at home since the 1968–69 season.

Sunderland had a bright start when Wilson Isidor thought he’d given them the lead early on with a thunderous strike into the top corner, only for it to be ruled out for offside. Moments later, Mukiele made no mistake, finishing off a slick attacking move to open the scoring.
The hosts nearly doubled their lead before the break when Hume’s header struck the post after Dan Ballard flicked on a long throw.
Wolves improved in the second half, applying sustained pressure in search of an equalizer, but their attack lacked creativity and precision. Jackson Tchatchoua wasted their best chance, poking wide from close range before Krejci’s late own goal sealed their fate.
The result leaves Wolves bottom of the Premier League, still searching for their first win of the campaign, while Sunderland continue to impress under Le Bris with confidence and momentum growing each week.
