Filmmaker and actress Funke Akindele has dismissed claims that she snubbed Fuji star Wasiu Pasuma at a recent public event, describing the viral narrative as false and driven by negativity.
The controversy began after a video shared on X by a user suggested the actress ignored the singer, with the clip edited to portray an apparent lack of interaction between the two.
Reacting in a post on Sunday, Akindele refuted the claim, insisting there was no act of disrespect.
“Snub? Hell no. Stop the negativity pls. I saw him, greeted him, danced with him. Pasuma is my egbon. Pls you all should stop this evil,” she wrote.
The widely circulated clip captured a brief moment at a crowded indoor event where Akindele was seen interacting with actress Fathia Balogun during her birthday celebration, while Pasuma appeared seated nearby. The footage, however, showed only a short segment and did not clearly capture any exchange between both parties.
A longer version of the video later surfaced online, contradicting the viral claim. In the extended footage, Akindele is seen warmly greeting Pasuma, smiling and engaging with him before moving on to other guests, including the celebrant.
Fans who shared the full clip noted that the earlier version appeared selectively edited to create a misleading impression. The event, which also had TikTok personality Ashabi Olose in attendance, featured multiple recordings from different angles confirming that the actress interacted freely with several guests.
The clarification comes weeks after another viral moment involving Akindele and Toyin Abraham at a movie premiere, which also sparked debate online. Despite recurring scrutiny over her public appearances, Akindele’s latest response underscores her rejection of what she described as “evil” and misleading narratives circulating on social media.
