The platform’s localized services are designed to make global e-commerce more inclusive, connecting millions of African shoppers and small businesses to international markets.

Regina Daniels grateful for fans’ support after brother’s release

Nollywood actress Regina Daniels has expressed deep gratitude to her fans and supporters following the release of her brother, Samuel Ojeogwu, who was recently arrested on charges of criminal conspiracy, trespass, assault, intimidation, and theft.

Taking to Instagram on Tuesday, Regina shared a video celebrating his freedom, describing the moment as a huge relief and a reminder of how loved she is.

“And my brother is out. So, one battle down,” she said cheerfully.

Becoming emotional, the actress reflected on the overwhelming love and support she received during the ordeal.

“Do you know it’s really such a big deal to be loved by a lot of people? Can I brag about that?” she asked. “The kind of love I received this period makes me emotional. I feel good — jokes on you, Ned, because you thought people would hate me.”

Regina went on to appreciate everyone who stood by her and her family.

“I have my mothers, my fathers, my uncles, my brothers, my sisters, my friends, my fans, my online aunties and daddies — everybody fighting for me. Thank you, guys. I can’t even start mentioning names.”

A separate video shared by activist Omoyele Sowore on Monday captured friends and well-wishers, including actress Mercy Johnson, joining in the celebration of Sammy West’s release.

The development follows a period of tension surrounding Regina’s marriage, after she was seen in a viral video breaking down in tears over her brother’s detention, vowing to “go back” as she lamented her family’s ordeal.

Her husband, Ned Nwoko, has since denied allegations of domestic violence, claiming instead that concerns about Regina’s welfare stemmed from her alleged issues with substance use — an assertion that has continued to generate mixed reactions online.

Reactions as Regina Daniels spotted clubbing amid marital crisis

Movie star Regina Daniels has sparked mixed reactions after being spotted enjoying a night out at a club amid her ongoing marital dispute with billionaire husband Ned Nwoko.

The actress, whose family has reportedly been caught in the fallout of the separation, was seen dancing, enjoying drinks, and having plates of chops and smoked fish, seemingly taking a moment to unwind from the drama surrounding her personal life.

The crisis intensified after Regina Daniels alleged that Ned Nwoko had encouraged her drug use and stated there is nothing legally binding her to him, insisting that he respect her decision to move on.

Fans and colleagues, including actress Mercy Johnson, have expressed public support for Regina Daniels, calling for the release of her brother, Sammy West, and urging Nwoko to respect her autonomy.

Uche Montana denies drug allegations in Regina Daniels-Ned Nwoko feud

Actress Uche Montana has denied claims linking her to the ongoing controversy between Senator Ned Nwoko and his estranged wife, Regina Daniels.

In an Instagram statement, Uche Montana said she has no involvement in the matter, writing:

“I wasn’t going to say anything, but I feel it’s important to clear the air. My attention has been drawn to a circulating post that appears to link my name to certain claims.

“For clarity, I have no involvement or connection to the situation described.

“This note is simply to set the record straight and protect my peace.”

The feud escalated when Ned Nwoko accused some of Regina Daniels’ colleagues, including Uche Montana, of undermining her rehabilitation by bringing her drugs she was being treated for.

He alleged that individuals, at times uninvited, interfered with her recovery and frustrated the efforts of doctors and therapists.

Uche Montana, however, has firmly denied the allegations, emphasizing that she is focused on her career and personal peace.

Rehab: I want Regina Daniels alive, healthy to raise her children—-Ned Nwoko

Sen. Ned Nwoko has said that his embattled wife and mother of two must go through rehabilitation for drug reasons to safeguard her life  and be in the  right mind  to raise her children.

He stated this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Abuja.

Nwoko  said his stance that the 25-year-old actress should pass through a rehab programme  is because of a series of  her  alarming toxicology results.

According to   him, his wife’s calm  personality changed  recently  and  was exhibiting  violent and destructive behavior, amidst recurrent health crisis.

Nwoko said he wanted the actress to raise her children in a sane and healthy  environment, while teaching them to be responsible.

He said going to rehabilitation would prevent her from having access to  drugs  while she complete her treatment process.

“I want her alive and healthy, not just  for me, but for our children.

“We have two young kids together, and they cannot fight for themselves, and I’m going to fight for them by safeguarding their mother.

“Many people have died of drug overdose, and if anything happens to her now, what will I tell her children tomorrow.

“I have lived with this problem for eight good months, and on three occasions I had to carry her to Nizamiye hospital unconscious from a drug overdose, and you can go verify it,” he said.

The lawmaker, who presented   some toxicology results of the ailing  actress, said anybody who was advising her against proper medical care in Rehab was her real enemy and that of her children.

He said the toxicology reports indicated several drugs were tested, with some  showing high  health toxic levels.

According to him, recent  social media rants  by Regina  Daniels’ mother and siblings debunking  drug abuse claims are mere baseless  distractions.

“That is why I am saying that everybody has to calm down , join hands  to save her but she and her mother are   living in denial.

“If her mother and those supporting her really want to prove me wrong, let them arrange for her to visit any toxicologist of their choice, I will pay.”

He added that “Even you interviewing me now, choose any toxicologist of your choice, here or even outside Nigeria and let’s confirm.”

Nwoko also  responded  to netizens’ reactions on the issue, with many asking what could push his wife into drugs, and while he did not  pay attention early to her dealings.

According to him, his wife’s siblings, especially the elderly ones, who are supposed to be a good influence on her, are the ones leading her astray.

“I don’t think it is bad to trust her siblings and their friends around my wife, but her brother, Sammy  and his   friends have influenced her.

“Her close relations and friends that I trusted around her are the ones exploiting her resources to supply her with drugs, leaving her addicted.

“Imagine the pain of a husband trying to help his wife recover from an addiction , only to have the process sabotaged by her siblings and friends,” he said

According to him, “each time progress was made, they would undo it by smuggling in the same drugs she was fighting to give up, and now they’re shielding her away from receiving treatment.”

The lawmaker expressed dismay on a recent social media post by his wife’s mother, Rita Daniels that his   son allegedly died in the United Kingdom from drug overdose.

He said such a claim was an’ inhuman attack’ on the dead as no autopsy showed that his son died from drug-related complications.

NAN reports that the lingering marital crisis between the couple came into the public when  Regina Daniel  accused the lawmaker of physically assaulting her.

She revealed that she could no longer endure the abuse in their marriage and announced that she was no longer interested in it.

However, her husband denied assaulting the actress and attributed her behaviour to substance abuse.(NAN)

UN genocide prevention chief warns of atrocity crimes in Sudan’s El Fasher

The United Nations Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide, Chaloka Beyani, has raised serious concerns over reports of mass atrocities and potential war crimes committed in El Fasher, Sudan, following the city’s capture by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) after more than 500 days of siege.

Beyani said his office is closely monitoring the situation, citing “massive violations of international human rights law” and “direct attacks on civilians.” He confirmed that he had spoken with UN Resident Coordinator Denise Brown and plans to issue an advisory to Secretary-General António Guterres, the Security Council, and other UN bodies.

“When our office sounds the alarm, it indicates that the threshold is about to be crossed, and early action must be taken,” Beyani told UN News.

The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) reports that the humanitarian crisis in North Darfur is worsening, with thousands of displaced families lacking food, water, and shelter. Many are sleeping in the open in areas such as Tawila, Daba Al Naira, and Um Jangour.

Meanwhile, the International Criminal Court (ICC) said it is urgently gathering evidence of alleged war crimes, including mass killings and sexual violence, as part of its ongoing investigation into atrocities committed since the conflict erupted in April 2023.

In response to growing international pressure, the RSF has reportedly agreed to a humanitarian ceasefire, brokered by mediators from the United States, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.

Despite the truce, UN officials warn that “the horror is continuing,” with civilians in Darfur enduring escalating violence and severe humanitarian deprivation.

‘We’ll fight it out if US invades Nigeria’ — Fani-Kayode warns Trump

In a post on X on Sunday, Fani-Kayode described Trump in scathing terms and accused the U.S. leader of threatening Nigeria with “violence, military action and invasion.”
Tribune Online

“Imagine a deranged & sociopathic meglomaniac & tyrant, a recalcitrant and unrepentant schoolyard and dockside bully and a cheap and shameless godless scumbag like @realDonaldTrump threatening our country with violence, military action and invasion. What a nerve!” he wrote.

Fani-Kayode said a friend had alerted him to Trump’s comments and argued that Nigeria must not accept being treated as subordinate by Western powers. He warned Nigerians would not flee the country if the U.S. carried out its threat but would “stand their ground and fight.”

“My response to her was as follows. ‘You are right. They are evil and, if he carries out his abominable threat, there will be a war. We shall not leave the country but we will fight it out with them. We behaved like cowards and allowed them to demonise us with no response. I do not know what is wrong with Nigerians but this will be the greatest challenge they have ever faced and maybe after it is all over they will appreciate the importance of having bold, articulate and courageous leaders & disavow themselves of their accursed cowardice, ignorance, pettiness, weakness, envy & complacency.’”

He also accused Trump of aligning with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and of failing to condemn atrocities elsewhere while attempting to brand Nigeria with a “genocide” tag. “Trump, a fascist & an associate of the globally recognized Hitler of the 21st century, @netanyahu, has refused to call the Israeli Zionist Nazis and the UAE-backed RSF butchers of Darfur, Sudan mass murderers and genocidal maniacs but he is calling our people the ‘killers of Christians’ and is desperately trying to label our nation with the genocide tag and create a crisis in Nigeria,” Fani-Kayode wrote.

Trump’s post on his social media platform said the U.S. would “immediately stop all aid and assistance to Nigeria” if attacks on Christians continued and that America “may very well go into that now disgraced country, ‘guns-a-blazing,’ to completely wipe out the Islamic Terrorists who are committing these horrible atrocities.” He added: “I am hereby instructing our Department of War to prepare for possible action. If we attack, it will be fast, vicious, and sweet, just like the terrorist thugs attack our CHERISHED Christians! WARNING: THE NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT BETTER MOVE FAST!”

EPL: Maguire’s late header seals Man United’s first Anfield win in nearly a decade

Harry Maguire’s late header earned Manchester United a dramatic 2-1 victory over Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday, ending the Red Devils’ nine-year wait for a win at the iconic ground and handing Liverpool their fourth straight defeat.

Cody Gakpo appeared to have rescued Liverpool from their losing streak when he struck with 12 minutes left, but Maguire rose highest six minutes from time to power a header past goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, sealing a memorable win for Ruben Amorim’s men.

United stunned the home crowd by taking the lead inside two minutes in controversial circumstances, after referee Michael Oliver allowed play to continue despite Alexis Mac Allister lying prone with a head injury from a collision with teammate Virgil van Dijk. Brentford loanee Bryan Mbeumo capitalised on the chaos, slotting past Mamardashvili, who stood in for the injured Alisson.

Liverpool pressed relentlessly, with Gakpo hitting the woodwork three times — twice before the break and once more in the second half — before finally finding the net from close range. However, his effort wasn’t enough to prevent another disappointing result for Jürgen Klopp’s side.

Bruno Fernandes had a golden opportunity to double United’s early advantage but fired wide, while new Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens impressed between the posts, producing a key save to deny Alexander Isak.

In a thrilling second half, United held firm under pressure, and Maguire’s decisive header capped a resilient display that saw them claim their first win at Anfield since January 2016.

For Liverpool, the defeat marked a worrying milestone — their fourth consecutive loss and their worst run of form since November 2014, during the Brendan Rodgers era.

Akpabio not a killer, former lawmaker declares

Mr Nse Ntuen, a former Akwa Ibom house of assembly member ( Essien Udim) says allegations leveled against Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, as a killer is false.

Ntuen in a statement in Uyo on Sunday, said the allegation is baseless.

He described the claims circulated by Akpabio’s sister-in-law, Mrs Patience Akpabio, as malicious, and inconsistent with both the character and public record of Akpabio, haven known him for more than 50 years.

Ntuen, also a former chairman of Essien Udim Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom, Akpabio’s council of origin, said the allegation, which had no basis, is steeped in personal bitterness and deliberate mischief rather than in any verifiable fact or credible grievance.

“We must never allow a culture of reckless falsehood to replace dialogue and truth. These claims are not merely offensive; they represent a conscious attempt to erode the dignity of honest leadership and to sow unnecessary discord among a people united by shared history and respect,” Ntuen said.

Ntuen aligned himself with the recent resolution of the Greater Akpabio Family, which unanimously expressed confidence in the senate president and reaffirmed the family’s unbroken unity.

He added that the statement by the family, being the most authoritative voice on domestic matters of this nature, has settled the issue firmly and should be respected as such.

“These spurious attacks are not only affronts to Akpabio’s person but also to the collective reputation of Essien Udim and by extension, Akwa Ibom and Nigeria,” he said.

He described the allegation as distractions, especially now that the senate president is leading the National Assembly in charting legislative frameworks for economic recovery and national renewal.

“It is disappointing that anyone would choose to distract public attention with malicious fiction and self aggrandisement.

“The public is therefore, advised to disregard such falsehoods, which serve no purpose other than to inflame passions and divert focus from meaningful governance,” he said.

He commended Akpabio for remaining calm and self-restraint in the face of provocation, describing it as evidence of both personal strength and political maturity.

He reaffirmed his loyalty to Gov. Umo Eno’s vision of peace and inclusive governance and his continued support for Akpabio as a son of Akwa Ibom.

“We stand with our leader, our brother, and our pride. Those who traffic in falsehood will find that truth is patient but enduring.

“The focus now must remain on the great task of nation building, to which Akpabio continues to dedicate himself with calmness, clarity and conviction,” he said.
