Aston Villa secured an impressive 2-1 comeback win over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, thanks to stunning strikes from Morgan Rogers and Emiliano Buendia at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Unai Emery’s men fell behind early when Rodrigo Bentancur opened the scoring in the fifth minute, netting his first Premier League goal of 2025. Spurs looked poised to extend their dominance, but Villa gradually grew into the contest.

Rogers levelled matters before the break with a spectacular long-range effort — his first goal of the season — as Villa regained confidence and control in midfield.

The game seemed destined to end in a stalemate until the 77th minute, when substitute Buendia produced a moment of magic, curling home a brilliant finish from the edge of the box to seal all three points for the visitors.

Brennan Johnson missed a late chance to snatch a draw for Tottenham, blazing his effort over the bar in added time.

The victory marks Villa’s fifth consecutive win across all competitions, lifting them to 10th place on 12 points — just two behind Spurs, who missed the opportunity to climb to second in the Premier League table.
