NNPCL increases fuel price for the second time in 4 days

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has increased the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) across its retail outlets nationwide for the second time in just four days.

As of Friday, NNPCL filling stations in Abuja, including outlets in Kubwa, Lugbe Expressway, Wuse Zone 4, and Wuse Zone 5, were selling petrol at ₦945 per litre. Similar prices were recorded at NNPCL retail outlets in parts of Nasarawa and Kogi states.

The National Chairman of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Abubakar Maigandi, confirmed the latest price hike, saying:

“The latest increase in NNPCL petrol pump was implemented this morning. I cannot tell the reason.”

The upward adjustment comes just two days after NNPCL reduced its pump price to ₦900 per litre, down from ₦955 on Monday, August 4.

These fluctuations follow Dangote Refinery’s decision to raise its ex-depot price of petrol from ₦820 to ₦850 per litre.

Meanwhile, other marketers are selling at varied prices: MRS and Bova filling stations are dispensing at ₦885 and ₦895 per litre respectively, while Optima, Ranoil, AA Rano, NIPCO, and several other outlets in Abuja sell between ₦950 and ₦955 per litre as of Friday evening.
